Teacher resume templates for Canada

A resume for Canada usually has no photo, runs to 1–2 pages and is printed on US Letter paper. The 12 designs below suit teachers and open in the free builder with our sample teacher resume filled in, and the checklist further down shows what to change before you apply in Canada.

A Canadian resume is usually one to two pages, written in reverse-chronological order and focused on measurable achievements. It leaves out a photo, date of birth, marital status and other personal details that provincial and federal human rights laws treat as grounds for discrimination. Most employers expect Canadian spelling, a city and province rather than a full address, and a clean layout that applicant tracking systems can read without trouble.

Each design below opens in the free builder with our sample teacher resume, Suresh Yadav, PGT Physics, already filled in. The list further down takes that sample section by section and shows what to change before you send it to an employer in Canada.

Why the sample works: Suresh ties his board result improvement to a named method, weekly past papers and error analysis, instead of claiming credit for results alone.

Teachers from India applying in Canada need to show two things on one or two pages: that they are certified, or well on the way to being certified, in the province, and that their classroom practice suits Canadian schools. That means converting classes into grades, explaining CBSE, ICSE or state boards briefly, and replacing lists of results with evidence of inclusive teaching, assessment and communication with families. School boards will not usually hire a classroom teacher without provincial certification.

What changes for Canada

Photo
Leave it out. Most Canadian employers prefer resumes without a photo. None of the designs below has a photo slot.
Length
One page for early-career applicants; two pages is common for experienced professionals.

North American Letter size, 8.5 by 11 inches, not A4. Pick US Letter in the builder before you download.

Name, phone, email, city and province. No age, SIN, marital status or religion.
Dates
Month and year for each role, formatted the same way throughout.
Spelling
Canadian spelling: colour, centre, labour, but organize and analyze.

The sample teacher resume, adapted for Canada

Header
Keep Suresh Yadav and “PGT Physics”, then phone, email, city and province and an optional LinkedIn link. No photo, age, Social Insurance Number, marital status or religion.
Professional summary
“Postgraduate physics teacher with nine years teaching classes 9 to 12 in CBSE schools, including board exam preparation and practical assessment. Uses demonstrations, simulations and past-paper practice to build conceptual understanding, and runs remedial groups for students who fall behind.” A Canadian professional summary is three to four lines in a neutral voice without “I”, naming your field, level, two or three strengths and one concrete result.
Core skills
Senior secondary physics, CBSE board preparation, Lab management, Practical assessment, Remedial teaching, Question paper design, Science club mentoring, Digital simulations.
Work experience
PGT Physics and Lab In-charge, CBSE senior secondary school: “Teach physics to four sections of classes 11 and 12, about one hundred and fifty students each year. Raised the class 12 physics pass percentage over three board cycles by introducing weekly past-paper practice and error analysis.” Earlier: TGT Science, Private CBSE school. For work outside Canada, name the country and the scale of the organisation in a few words, since a Canadian hiring manager may not know the employer, and translate job titles to the closest Canadian equivalent.
Education
M.Sc. Physics, State university. Education follows experience. If the degree was earned outside Canada and has been assessed as equivalent to a Canadian credential, say so.
Certifications and licences
Bihar Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) qualified, Physics; CBSE capacity-building workshop on competency-based assessment.
Languages and volunteer work
List Hindi, English, Bhojpuri with an honest level such as fluent or professional working proficiency, and treat meaningful volunteer roles like jobs.
