A resume for Canada usually has no photo, runs to 1–2 pages and is printed on US Letter paper. The 6 designs below suit accountants and open in the free builder with our sample accountant resume filled in, and the checklist further down shows what to change before you apply in Canada.
A Canadian resume is usually one to two pages, written in reverse-chronological order and focused on measurable achievements. It leaves out a photo, date of birth, marital status and other personal details that provincial and federal human rights laws treat as grounds for discrimination. Most employers expect Canadian spelling, a city and province rather than a full address, and a clean layout that applicant tracking systems can read without trouble.
Each design below opens in the free builder with our sample accountant resume, Ramesh Bansal, Senior Accountant, already filled in. The list further down takes that sample section by section and shows what to change before you send it to an employer in Canada.
Why the sample works: Ramesh states his closing timeline and vendor numbers, two concrete markers a finance manager uses to judge an accountant’s grip on the books.
Leave it out. Most Canadian employers prefer resumes without a photo. None of the designs below has a photo slot.
Length
One page for early-career applicants; two pages is common for experienced professionals.

North American Letter size, 8.5 by 11 inches, not A4. Pick US Letter in the builder before you download.

Dates
Month and year for each role, formatted the same way throughout.

Canadian spelling: colour, centre, labour, but organize and analyze.

Header
Keep Ramesh Bansal and “Senior Accountant”, then phone, email, city and province and an optional LinkedIn link. No photo, age, Social Insurance Number, marital status or religion.
Professional summary
“Accountant with ten years of experience in manufacturing companies, handling the full cycle from purchase entries to finalisation of accounts with the auditors. Manages payables, receivables, GST and TDS compliance, payroll inputs, stock valuation and monthly MIS.” A Canadian professional summary is three to four lines in a neutral voice without “I”, naming your field, level, two or three strengths and one concrete result.
Core skills
Month-end closing, Accounts payable and receivable, GST returns and reconciliation, TDS returns, Payroll, PF and ESI inputs, Inventory valuation, Audit support, MIS reports.
Work experience
Senior Accountant, Bicycle components manufacturer with export sales: “Close the books every month within five working days, including accruals, depreciation and stock adjustments. Reconcile GST input credit with GSTR-2B monthly and recovered credits that suppliers had not uploaded on time.” Earlier: Accountant, Hosiery and knitwear manufacturing unit. For work outside Canada, name the country and the scale of the organisation in a few words, since a Canadian hiring manager may not know the employer, and translate job titles to the closest Canadian equivalent.
Education
M.Com, State university. Education follows experience. If the degree was earned outside Canada and has been assessed as equivalent to a Canadian credential, say so.
Certifications and licences
Certificate in SAP Business One Financials, training partner; Diploma in Taxation Laws, university evening course.
Languages and volunteer work
List Punjabi, Hindi, English with an honest level such as fluent or professional working proficiency, and treat meaningful volunteer roles like jobs.
