Privacy policy

What we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. In short: we use your data to run your website and your account, we never sell it, and you can ask us to correct or delete it at any time.

1. Who we are

Digital CV Maker (digitalcvmaker.com) lets people build a personal website, an online CV and a digital visiting card. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean the operator of Digital CV Maker. “Members” are people with an account; “visitors” are people who view a member’s website.

We process personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules. For questions about this policy, email us at help@softwareforschools.com.

2. Information we collect from members

  • Account details — your name, email address, username and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash; we cannot read them.
  • Profile details you choose to add — such as phone number, city, state, country, address and profile photo.
  • Content you publish — the text, images and links on your website, CV and visiting card: experience, education, skills, portfolio, services, testimonials, social links and similar.
  • Payments — the plan you buy, the amount, date, payment method and the transaction reference. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the payment provider’s own secure form; we never receive or store your full card number or CVV.
  • Unfinished sign-ups and checkouts — if you enter your email to sign up or check out and do not finish, we keep that email and the plan you chose so we can remind you.
  • Messages to us — what you send through our contact form, the custom-website enquiry form (name, email, phone, budget, message), live chat or email, and your email if you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • How you use the product — events inside your dashboard (for example, that you published your site or used a feature), and view counts for your website, CV and card. View counts are totals: we do not record who viewed your page.
  • Browser notifications — if you allow them, your browser’s push subscription details so we can send you notifications.
  • Technical data — like any website, our servers record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which we use for security and to keep the service running.

3. Visitors to members’ websites

When you visit a website built on Digital CV Maker, the member who owns it decides what it collects. Depending on the features they turn on, this can include:

  • messages you send through the site’s contact form (name, email, subject, message);
  • appointment bookings, and a customer account if you create one (name, email, phone, address, and payment status for paid bookings);
  • your email if you subscribe to the member’s updates.

This information is shared with that member so they can reply to you or provide the service. We store it on their behalf and do not use it for our own marketing. Members can also add their own tools — such as analytics, chat, comments or a WhatsApp button — which are governed by those providers’ policies. For questions about a member’s site, please contact the member first; you can also write to us.

4. How we use your information

  • to create your account and publish your website, CV and visiting card;
  • to process payments, renewals and refunds, and keep records we are required to keep by law;
  • to send service emails — account verification, receipts, plan and trial reminders, reminders about an unfinished sign-up or checkout, a weekly summary of your site views and tips to finish your site;
  • to reply to your messages and give support;
  • to keep the service secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix problems;
  • to understand how the product is used and improve it;
  • to send occasional news and offers, which you can ask us to stop at any time (see section 9).

We use your data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you sign up or submit a form, and for the legitimate uses the law allows, such as meeting legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that have legal effects on you.

When you finish one of our free skill tests, we store your score, how you did on each topic, the time taken, whether it was the full test or a quick round, and the date, to publish anonymous score statistics. We do not store your name, email, IP address, account, cookie ID or browser details with it, so the result cannot be linked back to you.

5. Your public content and search engines

Your website, CV and visiting card are public at your link: anyone with the link can see them, and search engines can index them. We tell search engines when public pages change so they are listed accurately. You can hide your site from search engines in your site’s privacy settings, and you choose what personal details — like phone number or address — appear on your pages.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies that are needed for the site to work — to keep you logged in, protect forms against forgery, and remember your cookie choice. We also load fonts and scripts from content delivery networks (such as Google Fonts, cdnjs and jsDelivr), which receive your IP address when your browser requests them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without analytics cookies, but you will need to allow essential cookies to log in.

7. Who we share data with

  • Service providers — our hosting provider, the email service that delivers our emails, and the analytics and chat services listed above. They process data only to provide their service to us.
  • Payment providers — the provider you choose at checkout (for example Razorpay, PhonePe, Paytm, Stripe or PayPal) receives the details needed to take the payment, under its own privacy policy.
  • Members — messages, bookings and subscriptions from their websites’ visitors, as described in section 3.
  • Authorities — when the law requires it, for example a valid order from a court or government agency, or to protect people from fraud or harm.
  • A new owner — if the business is sold or merged, your data would pass to the new owner under the same protections.

Some of these providers store data outside India. When that happens, it is protected by their security measures and by the terms we agree with them.

8. How long we keep data

We keep your account data for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your website content and profile, except records we must keep by law — such as payment and tax records — which we keep only for the period the law requires. Reminder emails for an unfinished checkout stop after a few messages. Messages you send us are kept while needed to answer them and for our records.

9. Your rights and choices

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:

  • ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct or update it — most details you can change yourself in your dashboard;
  • ask us to delete your account and data;
  • withdraw your consent, including to marketing emails — we will stop sending them;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to do so;
  • raise a complaint with us, and if you are not satisfied, with the Data Protection Board of India.

To use any of these rights, email us at help@softwareforschools.com from the email address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we aim to reply within 30 days.

10. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, store passwords only as secure hashes, limit who can access member data, and do not store card details. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use elsewhere, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.

11. Children

Digital CV Maker is meant for adults. If you are under 18, please use it only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data without that consent, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version; if a change is significant, we will tell members by email or in the dashboard.

13. Contact and grievances

For any privacy question, request or complaint, email us at help@softwareforschools.com. Postal address: Proudly built in India. We will acknowledge your message and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
