Admissions to timetables, compliance to campus — the machinery that keeps a school calm.
A great school is a calm one, and calm is manufactured — behind the scenes, before anyone arrives. My job is to absorb the chaos so it never reaches the classroom: the double-booked hall, the late bus, the pending compliance, the anxious parent at the desk. Teachers should think about teaching and children about learning; everything else is mine to hold. Done right, administration is invisible — and that invisibility is the whole craft.
Run the main lobby with two receptionists, checking in around 150 visitors, interview candidates and vendors a day. Moved visitor entry from paper registers to a digital system with ID scans and pre-registration by hosts.
Handled the switchboard, client arrivals and partner calendars with strict confidentiality. Maintained the courier log for court documents, making sure urgent filings left on time.
Checked in guests, handled reservations and answered queries about local travel. Resolved room complaints with housekeeping and recorded handovers for the next shift.
